Pilgrim. The first time my conscious recognized the word 'pilgrim' was while listening to one of Enya's songs: "Pilgrim, how you journey On the road you chose To find out why the winds die And where the stories go.
All days come from one day That much you must know, You cannot change what's over But only where you go."
Even though this word is often used in strict religious references - it doesn't necessarily have to be. A Pilgrim is anybody and everybody, religious or not. It is anybody who is searching for meaning in their life, for understanding of this world and who accepts the fragility of that knowledge. It is the scientist, the meditator, the philosopher, the psychologist and the priest, because it doesn't matter where you search: the empirical world, your intuition, your reason, the reason of others, religion or spirituality -in the end it is the search itself that will provide you with answers.
As Heidegger said - it is important to live authentically (don't take the definition of this word lightly - look it up - Heidegger is a philosopher - they make up their own language :)
